An exciting and rewarding opportunity is available for a suitably qualified person to join the Environmental Services team at Portland District Health.

The Stores Assistant role is to assist with the incoming stores, scan all imprest on given days, distribution of the stores to areas within the facility, phone queries, receiving of goods from couriers and the organizing of outgoing deliveries.

As an Environmental Services Assistant you will ensure a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff; in accordance with Victorian Healthcare Cleaning Standards, and the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.  Undertake the effective and efficient cleaning of the facility; including public, staff, inpatient, and clinical areas; together with the operation of the waste disposal and recycling systems.

About you:

  • Demonstrated ability to practice collaboratively and work effectively as part of multidisciplinary health care team
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, written, verbal and ICT skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff and management
  • Extensive cleaning experience in a service organisation
  • An appropriate level of physical fitness to be able to undertake the specific duties.
  • Ability to perform duties within established routines, methods, and procedures.
  • Capability to work under routine supervision, either individually or in a team.
  • Demonstrated competency in the cleaning of windows, hard and soft floors; and the use of a wide range of commercial cleaning equipment and chemicals.
